What is it about?

The continued existence of slavery had an important place in the life of society since the ancient times. As in other states, slavery had a presence in the Ottoman Empire, and became the subject of the many cases in the Court Registers, too. The great majority of the slaves in the Ottoman Empire in 17th century consisted of slaves brought from the places like Caucasia, Hungary, Circassia, Poland and Russia. This phenomenon was treated in the lights of the complaints about the releasing, buying and selling records.
