Why is it important?

Having memories of the ICU stay, even if it is delusional memories, may be better than having no memories at all.

Perspectives

The knowledge that memories of the ICU or hospital stay has a positive impact on the patients perceived health-related quality of Life is of great importance for the health personal on ICU as well as on the ward after ICU, to help the patients to a faster recover process. The sedation during ICU stay must be better individalized so the patient has a change to remember the ICU and hospital stay.
