What is it about?

Lateral pelvic lymph node dissection (LPLD) is often performed in advanced lower rectal cancer in Japan which differs from Western countries. However, there is a disadvantage of performing LPLD. To minimize the disadvantage, we performed limited LPLD after chemoradiotherapy, only perform the LPLD procedure on the side which lateral which lateral pelvic lymph node metastasis was suspected. Successfully, local recurrence rate, relapse free survival and overall survival was comparable with conventional treatment.
