What is it about?

Recently, pretreatment monocyte counts and the lymphocyte/monocyte ratio (LMR) have been proven to be significantly associated with the clinical outcomes of several types of cancer. In this study, we analyzed the prognostic significance of the LMR in stage Ib1–IIa cervical cancer patients who underwent a radical operation.

Why is it important?

To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to evaluate the influence of the LMR on the RFS and OS in patients with cervical cancer.

Perspectives

we have proven that an elevated LMR is a potential prognostic marker for patients with primary operable cervical cancer. Because this ratio can be easily obtained with a routine blood test, the LMR may be a useful and inexpensive biomarker for predicting the clinical outcome.
