What is it about?

The displacement of the lamina cribrosa and prelaminar tissue and the change in corneal hysteresis and corneal resistance factor were evaluated during acute IOP elevation by means of an ophthalmodynamometer.

Why is it important?

Eyes with severe glaucoma exhibited a mean overall anterior displacement of the anterior laminar surface, t of the lamina cribrosa during intraocular pressure elevation with decrease of cornea hysteresis and increase of the resistence factor.

Perspectives

I hope that the study of the biomechanical response of the cornea with the Ocular Response Analyzer to an acute intraocular pressure allows an early staging of glaucoma.
