What is it about?
Antioxidants are chemicals that counteract the harmful effects of other chemicals that are produced during normal biological processes. they are mostly of plant origin and are found in food items. Research work has shown that supplementation with antioxidants could not be proven to be of benefit - therefore, reliance should be on dietary antioxidants. The Mediterranean-type diet has the advantage for naturally-available antioxidants. Such a dietary pattern should be adequate to benefit general health of humans and protects from diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
