What is it about?

The behaviours of physisians and chronic pain patients in the prescribing of opioid are examined. The reports of the patients and physicians are reviewed in relation to how often patients take opioids as prescribed and may abuse them. This is compared with how physician assess whether patients may abuse abuse or misuse their opioid prescriptions.

The study showed there are a number of behaviours that suggest misuae and abuse that may be identified. Physicians tend to underestimate the incidence of abuse and misuse and may not recognize that intervfention is needed.
