Why is it important?

Ineffective interprofessional teamwork remains ubiquitous and is a threat for patient safety. Aiming and ensuring effective patient safety is a major priority in the management and culture of every health care organization.

Perspectives

Multiple Actions such as patient safety initiatives and patient-centered care have been launched to improve safety. Without involvement of the bedside health care workers, initiatives are often inefficient and useless. Bottom-up patient safety initiatives encouraging participation of every single care provider by learning effective interprofessional teamwork within daily practice may be an effective way of fostering atient safety.
