What is it about?
This paper explores clinicians' perspectives on multidisciplinary care of young women with breast cancer (YWBC). It suggests that multidisciplinary care is variable, and that there are barriers to its practice. Despite this, clinicians think that it is important to present YWBC to multidisciplinary care meetings before they undergo any cancer treatment. Suggestions for improving multidisciplinary care practice are provided.

Why is it important?
As a population, YWBC have a more complex clinical picture owing to their tendency to worse treatment outcomes and because of greater psychosocial need. Multidisciplinary care offers an opportunity to provide greater support to both clinicians and patients and is associated with improved treatment outcomes. By identifying gaps in practice and strategies for improvement, we may be able to boost outcomes for YWBC.
