What is it about?

Several tissue, epithelial, and blood biomarkers have been linked to severity of asthma in children. This review article has tried to list and discuss the place of some of these markers in management of children with severe asthma.

Why is it important?

Identification of the biomarkers for severe asthma will enhance development of targeted treatment modalities as part of the current concepts in management of children with severe (difficult to treat or therapy resistant) asthma.

Perspectives

The publication is educative and will stimulate further research in search of specific targeted therapies for control of symptoms in children with severe asthma.
