Why is it important?

Prior to Ocufolin, no treatment of BRAO after 4 hours has shown benefit.

Perspectives

This case demonstrated that 24 hours out is not too late to start treating severe retinal ischemia. The patient over 9 months improved from 20/70 to 20/25. Other patients with BRAO since then have shown remarkable improvement. A subsequent series demonstrating the impact of l-methylfolate, and n-acetylcysteine containing supplements is under preparation.
