What is it about?

Slipping of the umbilical cord during labor is a top emergency as it can put the baby's life into danger. If it happens, the baby should be delivered quickly. There are some risk factors that increase the possibility of this complication happening including high parity, abnormal position of the baby inside the mother, excessive fluid around the baby among others. Women should contact their doctors as soon as their water broke and healthcare professionals should be aware of the different treatment options of this serious condition.
