What is it about?

This paper reports for the first time addition of a low melting oil in solid lipid mixtures can reduce its melting point to a point, which is required for thermoresponsive drug release. Paper also reports that gold nanoparticles loading in SLN is dependent o surface lipophilicty of gold nanoparticles.

Why is it important?

Solid lipid nanoparticles prepared from such lipid mixture will provide thermoresponsive drug release. This method involves only physical mixing of components, without any chemical reagent or organic solvent.

Perspectives

This publication reports a new platform for thermoresponsive drug release which may be better suitable due to easy preparation, cost effective and compliance with green synthesis. Paper also reports that gold nanoparticles with hydrophobic surface are efficiently loaded in SLN and significantly modify release pattern of co-loaded drug.
