What is it about?

We used animal models (SD rats) and cell studies to demonstrate the difference between the level of toxicity of nickel fine particles and nanoparticles in biological system through intravenous delivery.

Why is it important?

Minute metallic nanoparticles such as nickel nanoparticles are being explored for use in target therapy for cancer, but their metabolism withing the biological system still ambiguous.

Perspectives

Nickel nanoparticles are more toxic than their fine particle counterparts. The distribution and metabolism of nanoprticles within a system should be clarified before being employed as therapy.
