What is it about?

in this paper we designed and realized nanoparticles able to recognise specifically malignant mesothelioma cells. These particles work as drug carrier into the cells. we assess the activity of these carrier in vitro and we forecast their possible future application in vivo. These carrier act on specific target cells and spare normal mesotelial cells. We plan to use them directly by intrapleural rute.

Why is it important?

it is one of the first application of nanotechnology to the target treatment of malignant mesothelioma. It is one major advancement of research in nanotechnology, since it could open the possibility to start local intrapleural treatment of this malignant tumor.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations and young and enthusiast fellows who really foster our research. This article also lead to rare disease groupssince malignant mesothelioma is a rare and orphan neoplasia
