SWCNTs-ciprofloxacin nanoantibiotic

What is it about?

The paper is reported the covalent functionalization of single walled carbon nanotubes with ciprofloxacin in order to improve its antibacterial activity against different types of bacteria.

Why is it important?

it is first time the SWCNTs are functionalized with ciprofloxacin covalently with a high cellular and blood biocompatibility. In addition, the excellent improvment of the antibacterial activity with 16 folds in comparison to the ciprofloxacin alone.
