What is it about?

A nanotechnology made of elongated titanium oxide nanoparticles (titanate nanotubes) combined with chemotherapy (docetaxel) significantly helps to improve the treatment of prostate cancer by radiotherapy in case of intratumoral injection in comparison of chemotherapy alone or radiotherapy alone.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that a nanotechnology resulting from the association of (i) nanoparticles intrinsically enhancing radiotherapy, and (ii) chemotherapy grafted to these nanoparticles, greatly improved the span of drug efficacy, and considerably delayed the tumor growth of xenografted tumors on swiss nude mice.
