What is it about?

This review article explained the impact of microbial ecology, antibiotics and antibiotics resistance, nutrient availability, temperature, iron concentration, microbial gene expression and regulations on Acinetobacter baumannii biofilm formation and also give detailed insight into some current and prospective organic and inorganic anti-infective agents that are reported for A. baumannii biofilm infections.

Why is it important?

This article to the best of my knowledge is the first detailed review on the physicochemical factors that influence A. baumannii biofilm formation.

Perspectives

This article is very interesting and written in a plain and simple English Language for easier comprehension. it is timely in the sense that A. baumannii is one of the critical pathogens on the watch list of WHO for its resistance to almost all available antibiotics, survival in desiccated environments and medical devices in hospital ICUs due partly to its ability to form biofilms. Understanding the parameters that triggers biofilm formation formation is a step towards controlling its threat.
