What is it about?

Biomarkers are used to obtain objective readouts to diagnose patients but also to anticipate patients performance, predict response to treatment and pharmacodynamics studies. In this review we provide an overview of the currently known biomarkers, their chemical nature and clinical utility.

Why is it important?

In this review we present the state of the art, the challenges in the field and the future development of biomarker research in thhe Duchenne field.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it gave me the opportunity to evaluate together with collaborators the work that we performed together and the new directions we are taking. We hope that this article will be useful to other researchers to have an overview of the field and to plan ahead based on the available knowledge.
