Individualized nutrition therapy interventions provided by dietitian nutritionist significantly improved short- and long-term glucose control, decreased doses or number of glucose-lowering medications, and resulted in improvements in quality of life. An initial series of encounters with ongoing support and implementation of a variety of nutrition-therapy interventions, off of which resulted in a reduced energy intake, were important.
