This is a 3-year follow-up of a patient treated with strontium ranelate in replacement of bisphosphonate for osteoporosis. Image, biochemical results, and clinical condition showed significant improvements with strontium ranelate treatment; along with improved sequels of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ).

Why is it important?

Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is a serious complication arising from the use of biphosphonate for the treatment of osteoporosis. It is imperitive to find a safer, alternative treatment.
