What is it about?

There are few reliable markers for payers to use to identify patients with schizophrenia who are at risk for relapse. Identification of warning signs prior to relapse may help payers develop disease management programs to help patients stay well. This study identified several claims-based "patient instability events (PIEs)" that summed to a total score to help predict potential risk for relapse.

Perspectives

Schizophrenia is particularly difficult to treat, and relapse is devastating for patients and families. I hope this publication will provide one solution to improve lives for patients with schizophrenia and help patients stay well.
