What is it about?

This study was conducted in 2 phases. In the first phase, the non adherents to antihypertensives were identified. In the second phase those identified non adherents were given interventions to improve their medication taking behaviour. The effect of the interventions interms of their quality of life, knowledge on hypertension, self efficacy and the blood pressure were assessed at 3 months and 6 months.

Why is it important?

This is important because the adherence to antihypertensives plays a significant role in the control of BP. Moreover in elderly, medication non adherence is a mojor issue due to their age related factors.

Perspectives

I had a great experience and satisfaction of conducting this study among elderly. Hope the findings of the study will definitely be used by many researchers and gives an idea about how important is the reinforcement in making the elderly adhere to their antihypertensives. I am greatful to my guide, coguide and all the coauthors for the expert guidance provided.
