Why is it important?
Previous studies have shown that lung disease patients have had a lower tendency to quit smoking compared to heart patients. Our study shows that obstructive lung disease was just as strongly associaled to quitting as was heart disease.
Perspectives
An early diagnosis of obstructive lung disease is important in order to encourage patients to quit smoking.
