Model and Solution for a Real Life Transshipment Problem of a Major Fast Fashion Company

What is it about?

This research on transshipment in the fast fashion industry involves developing models and heuristics to optimize the movement of goods between stores and distribution centers. We initially tackled the basic transshipment problem.

Why is it important?

A real-life transshipment problem, which was initiated by a major fast fashion retailer with numerous stores in Turkey and around the world. In our i we formulated this problem as a large mixed-integer linear program and employed a Lagrangian relaxation method using a primal-dual approach to establish upper bounds. We also developed a metaheuristic based on simulated annealing to find promising solutions, both of which proved to be effective.
