The Jewish Homo Viator

What is it about?

This chapter will illustrate first the movements by which a socially manifested or provoked lusus naturae was introduced to the public forum, made to expiate for alleged wrongs, then formally expelled for the sake of purification and social catharsis; second, the evolution of this ritual in the ancient world; and third, its perverted articulation in Nazi Germany.

Why is it important?

To understand the process of ritualized social expulsions, especially pertaining to genocidal situations.
