We investigated the association between a urate transporter OAT4's variant and gout.

Why is it important?
Gout is classified due to its causes, and RUE type is caused by urate underexretion in kidney. OAT4 transporter was revealed to have NO association with gout, but RUE gout. Therefore, genetically, OAT4 is proved to be involved in renal urate transport.
