Why is it important?

Students studying at an open university tend to present a profile that is distinct. Cohorts tend to contain a wide range of ages, many students have been out of education for many years and continue to work and apart from one or two residential courses all study takes place remotely at home. It was felt that this context was distinct enough from previous research to warrant investigation.

Perspectives

This paper provides an insight into the initial stages of the project providing a rational and detailing the development of the research tools.
