Why is it important?

This case series demonstrated that patients could have restoration of normal function with arrest of any progression of osteoarthritis when a lateral meniscus root tear was repaired concurrently with an ACL reconstruction.

Perspectives

This article was one of the first to report on the results of lateral meniscus root tear repairs. Most of the early articles on meniscus root repairs were on medial meniscus root tears. This article demonstrated that the lateral meniscus root tears can be successfully repaired and result in good patient outcomes.
