Why is it important?
It covers the full spectrum of benefits and risks associated with this surgical procedure best done early in life to maximize the benefits and minimize the harms. A meta-analysis is presented based on all conditions, such as infections and diseases avoided, and arrived at a benefit to risk ratio that finds the benefits greatly exceed the risks.
Perspectives
This article is important, especially for the UK, as it informs policy an argues in favour of promotion of infant circumcision in the interests of public health and reducing adverse medical conditions, so reducing suffering for potential patients and their families, and providing cost savings for the latter and for the NHS, the UK's government health body that covered the cost involved.
