What is it about?

Quantum theory has usually a very formal foundation. This is simplified as follows: Consider a fixed context and an actor or a group of communicating actors in this setting. Let there be a set of theoretical variables in his/her/their mind(s), These may be accessible (possible to measure) or inaccessible. Assuming two related maximal accessible (complementary) variables, and some weak technical extra assumpions, the formal apparatus of quantum theory is deduced. The technical assumptions are simplified in the case wher the variables take a finite number of values. Consequences to the Bell experiment, quantum decision theory, statistical inferens and links to relativity theory are briefly discussed.

Why is it important?

A completely new quantum foundation increases our understanding of basic physics. The theory has also macroscopic implications, say in statistics and in cognitive psychology.

Perspectives

To me it is important that the theory can be explained in simple terms. In the future I want to focus on possible statistical applications.
