What is it about?
The presence of the Tirta Marta spring in Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, Indonesia is interesting to explore further. The spring has a large discharge to form a lake (situ) and is used by local drinking water company. The publication of this research describes the supporting factors for the emergence of this spring from a geological point of view. This preliminary study shows several geological factors that control the emergence of the Telaga Tirta Marta springs. These factors are: the morphology of the spring location at the foot of Slamet Volcano, the type of lithology in the form of layers of lava and vesicular lava, and the geological structure that developed at that location.

Why is it important?
Studies on the Tirta Marta spring need to be carried out for further management and sustainability of this spring. This is important because this spring has been used by local communities and local water company to meet their basic needs for clean water and drinking water. In addition, this spring has also become the center of the local economy in the form of tourist attractions and the people's economic business.
Perspectives
The study of the Tirta Marta spring emergence gave me new information about one of the mechanisms for the emergence of some springs in the area of Slamet Volcano. Continuous research is needed on the existence of several springs around the foot of Slamet Volcano for better management of water and groundwater resources.
