What is it about?

This paper demonstrates the regressive nature of the UK social security system as highlighted by the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights. It looks at the design flaws that are evident in many parts of the UK Social Security system and the vulnerable groups in society who are particularly impacted by welfare reform. The paper puts forward suggestions for ways in which the system could be changed to provide a fairer and more equitable system.
