What is it about?
This is a study of a global asynchronous MOOC course from Udacity.com about "Design" was studied at a local learning center in the mountain region of Northern Sweden. The MOOC concept, which usually adresses individuals in front of their computers who do seldom finsih their courses, can be successfully combined with the classic Swedish "study circle" concept: local gatherings of interested people without a teacher but with some kind of learning material. The combination worked out very well, and can be used by community leanring centres and in organisations as examples.

Why is it important?
This is important since it is a rather successful small experiment on one way of how to make global teaching/learning a reality. It is probably widely applicable, also in formal learning
Perspectives
This study is part of my dissertation "From Blended Leanring to Learning Onlife - ICTs, Time and Access in Higher Education. It is also one of the few papers that try to eascape the more and more unsustainable centre-periphery perspective in distance- e- amnd online learning.
