What is it about?

The agricultural sector has been earmarked as a critical sector through which economic transformation, poverty reduction and food security can be realised in South Africa. This paper examines the factors that foster South Africa's increasing perfomance in agricultural trade.

Study findings suggest that countries with fast growing populations present great market opportunities for South Africa's agricultural exports. Thus, South Africa should consider diversifying her exports markets, paying close attention to intra-Africa trade.
