What is it about?

A total of 45 sockets received grafting material. All of the post-extraction sites had three bony walls. 15 received calcium sulphate, 15 received magnesium enriched hydroxyapatite and 15 heterologous porcine bone. After three months, dental implants were placed in the grafted sites. Intraoral x-rays were taken at baseline, 12 and 24 months to evaluate marginal bone level

Why is it important?

The three grafting materials used in this study showed no statistically significant difference

Perspectives

Personally, working on this article made me more conscious on one fact: there is not a best material to be used. What is important is to use biomaterials after a dental extraction to minimize bone volume loss
