What is it about?
We looked at where babies sleep and differences in sleep location (with mother, in a crib in a different room) based on mothers' race/ethnicity, income, partner status, or education with a large sample of U.S. mothers.

Why is it important?
Public health officials make policies on sleep and direct them towards minorities and people with lower education or income levels. Yet we know little about where mothers and babies in these groups sleep. This study was a preliminary look at these demographic factors that do influence where babies sleep.
Perspectives
Some of the policies directed at low income and racial/ethnic minority populations are made with little knowledge of those communities. My aim was to show the differences so that policies could be made from knowledge rather than supposition.
