What is it about?

The paper highlights the challenges and suggestions for the provision and use of maternal health services in Ghana. Challenges such as limited service coverage, inadequate human resource and infrastructure, lack of drugs and equipment, lack of transport, influence of religious, cultural and family members were identified. Suggestions to improve service provision and utilisation were made.

The paper will assist policy makers identify pressing issues affecting the implementation of the maternal health policy in Ghana. The paper will also benefit other stakeholders in similar settings as Ghana.

Perspectives

It is my conviction that the recommendations identified in this paper if implemented will lead to an overall improvement of maternal health services for women in Ghana and other countries with similar programs.
