Why is it important?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a generational change in the manner in which disability services are designed, delivered and funded. Given its long lead time and the underfunded nature of the overall system, learning how nonprofit organisations deal with these changes is important to ensure the longevity of the overall system

Perspectives

Much has been researched about change management, but this is largely in the commercial sector. Additionally, within the disability services sector, the predominant research focus has been on service users. Whilst this is extremely important, the lack of focus on service providers could result in market failure as smaller providers are squeezed out of the system. Such market failure could harm those whom the system was meant to benefit - people with a disability.
