What is it about?

Lunasin is bioactive peptide found in soybean that has anticancer activity against a variety of cancer types. We found that lunasin is active against melanoma in both cell culture and mouse models. Moreover, we clearly showed that lunasin can target putative melanoma cancer stem cells.

Why is it important?

This is the first time lunasin has been reported to be active against melanoma and it is the clearest demonstration to date that lunasin can target cancer stem cells.
