What is it about?

In this work two strategies are presented to improve the generation of solar energy from a photovoltaic system. The first one is the use of a multistring solar inverter, consisting of two photovoltaic strings connected to DC-DC Boost converters for independent maximum energy extraction. These are equipped with classical P&O algorithm. The second one strategy consists in the use of an algorithm specifically designed to detect the global maximum power point. The use of a multistring structure is intended to mitigate the negative effect caused by partial shading (due to dirt on the solar panels, lack of maintenance especially in places where access is difficult and shadowing caused by nearby objects). With the algorithm created, each converter is able to extract the maximum available power of its respective string, even under conditions of partial shadowing and variations of solar irradiation. Finally, the main experimental results for the validation of the exposed theory are presented.
