Looking back, I realise that this research was also personally motivated. In my own academic environment and in conversations with industry partners, I have often encountered the assumption that "younger equals more valuable." This bias, whether explicit or implicit, shapes hiring practices, marketing strategies, and even innovation priorities. I wanted to challenge that assumption with evidence. What surprised me during the review process was not the existence of age-related biases—I expected that—but the fragmentation of knowledge. Valuable insights exist across disciplines, yet they rarely reach business audiences in an accessible, integrated form. This article became my attempt to connect those dots. I also came away with a deeper appreciation for the complexity of the issue. There is no single "silver bullet" solution. Success requires alignment between organisational practices, product design, and government policy. Yet the potential payoff—in terms of productivity, market growth, and social inclusion—is substantial.
