What is it about?
Tehpai happens in a marriage ceremony that involves the parents of the bride and groom and their relatives. Tea is offered by the bride and groom to them to pay respect and thankful that this bride and groom to be successfullin forming a new family.

Why is it important?
Tehpai should not be abandoned because the Indonesian Chinese descendants still hold the Filial Piety teachings of Confucianism, Respect for parents and the older generation related to Xiao or Filial Piety because parents have raised their children with all their hart. Tehpai ceremony is the time for the bride and groom to show the devotion to their parents and the older generations.
Perspectives
