What is it about?

The paper describes the algorithm of a program with the title TurbidMC, which implements the perturbation Monte Carlo method and is intended for modeling temporal point spread functions and sensitivity functions for time-resolved fluorescence molecular tomography.

Why is it important?

The results demonstrate the spatial dependence of the sensitivity functions and, therefore, the need to use a priori (or a posteriori) knowledge of the location of the fluorophore for accurate reconstruction of fluorescence tomograms.

Perspectives

The results obtained will make it possible to adjust the algorithm for reconstructing fluorescence images from the point of view of improving the accuracy of reproducing the spatial distributions of the fluorophore absorption coefficient and the fluorescence lifetime.
