What is it about?
Students in the Heat Transfer (MECH 340) course at Slippery Rock University (SRU) were assigned a sustainability-focused design project during the Spring 2022 and 2023 semesters. As part of the project, the director of the Macoskey Center for Sustainability Education and Research at SRU acted as the customer in the engineering design process. She required each team to generate a performance-optimized and a cost-optimized design solution that met her design parameters, with am emphasis on sustainability. This work focuses on student teams' designs and how well they aligned with the design requirements and learning objectives.
