A new initial teacher training program in Switzerland based on the principle of two-way immerision is presented : « Cursus bilingue / Bilingualer Studiengang » (HEP-BEJUNE & PHBern)

Why is it important?

Three contributing factors to the conceptualization and operationalization of this innovative joint project of two Universities of Teacher Education, one in French-speaking Switzerland (HEP-BEJUNE) and the other one in German-speaking Switzerland (PHBern), are presented. Moreover, we outline the « Cursus bilingue / Bilingualer Studiengang » while making explicit its core-principle relying on two-way immersion education.

Perspectives

We provide a prospective view with regard to the future challenges of the « Cursus bilingue / Bilingualer Studiengang ».
