What is it about?

This paper is an examination of Randa Abdel-Fatteh's characters in her selected novels. Being Muslim in Australia brings with it several complexities which are resolved as the characters come to terms with their beliefs of the old and demands of their present hostland.

Why is it important?

Randa Abdel-Fattah is an emerging Australian Muslim writer whose novels add to the growing tradition of diasporic Muslim writers. She provides different aspects of Australian Muslims who have their own specific challenges.

Perspectives

I am interested in post 9/11 literature especially by Muslim writers who present issues that afflict the Muslim communities after the tragic 9/11 event.
