What is it about?
Posterior urethral valves are the most common cause of lower urinary tract obstruction in male infants and are associated with life-threatening complications and lifelong disability. Using population-based health administrative databases, we found that one-third of children with posterior urethral valves develop major adverse kidney events (death, kidney failure, or chronic kidney disease) by early adulthood, compared to 1% of the general childhood population.
