Older adults with chronic kidney disease are not always as involved in decisions about their medical care as they would like. A potential reason for this is that clinicians are sometimes unsure how involved patients want to be in medical decisions. We asked patients how involved they prefer to be in medical decisions and discuss a strategy clinicians can use in practice to ask patients about their preferences for involvement.
