What is it about?
One of the most significant causes of water wastage is the loss from water bodies by evaporation. As a result, there has been an increased focus on evaporation reduction methods that can be applied to water storages aimed at reducing water loss from evaporation in many parts of the world

Why is it important?
Even though many researchers have studied and investigated evaporation reduction from an open water body, information on this under the tropical humid conditions prevailing in Malaysia is lacking. This is an area that requires significant further study before covers can be approved for large-scale and long-term use in reservoirs.
Perspectives
The idea of this study is to test the performance of different locally available materials in reducing evaporation in Malaysia and to analyse their effects on the water quality.
